Marieka Walsh is a Director, Screenwriter and Animator. She has received five Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTA) nominations as well as two Australian Director's Guild (ADG) nominations. Her unique sand animation THE HUNTER, (SXSW, Palm Springs, Sydney International Film Festival) won several international awards as well as an AACTA for Best Short Animation. She went on to direct/ animate THE CROSSING (winner Dendy SFF) followed by the opening film for the anthology feature THE TURNING (Berlinale, MIFF). She has created animation for three feature length documentaries; THAT SUGAR FILM, FIRESTARTER and AFTER THE APOLOGY.Marieka studied Visual Art and holds a Hons degree (SCA – USYD). Her animation/ video installations have screened at galleries in Sydney/ Melbourne including the Australian Centre for Moving Image (ACMI). Marieka started her career working in Post Production at The Editors.
